Who we are

We’re a Church Built on the Word—Committed to Living it Out.

The Word Community Church exists because we believe God still speaks through His Word—and that lives are still changed when people encounter Jesus.

We’re a local church in Fresno, CA made up of people from different backgrounds, stories, and seasons of life. Some of us have been in church for years. Some are just starting to ask questions. What brings us together isn’t having it all figured out—it’s a shared desire to know Christ, follow Him faithfully, and live out the Gospel where God has placed us.

Every week, we gather to worship, open the Bible, pray together, and encourage one another. Not because church is a performance—but because we believe God uses ordinary people, faithfully rooted in His truth, to do extraordinary work.

Why We Exist
As A Church

  • God-centered with a strong emphasis on the whole Bible, and people. Everything we do flows from the three foundational commitments in this statement:

    • God at the center – We don’t build around personalities, preferences, or trends. We build around God and His Word.

    • The whole Bible – We believe all of Scripture matters and speaks to real life today.

    • People – Not as projects, but as image-bearers who need truth, grace, community, and hope.

    From there, our vision, mission, and focus become clear.

  • One generation called to reach them, win them, train them, and send them.

    This is our heartbeat.

    We want to reach people who don’t yet know Christ, walk with them as they come to faith, train them to grow in maturity, and send them out—into their families, neighborhoods, workplaces, and the world—with the Gospel.

  • A diverse generation called to transform Fresno and the world.

    We believe the Gospel doesn’t just change individuals—it transforms communities.

    That’s why our faith doesn’t stay inside church walls. It moves outward in love, service, and mission.

    Our focus as a church centers on three key areas:

    Evangelism & Discipleship

    We equip people to grow in their faith and confidently share the Gospel in everyday life—at home, at work, and in their communities.

    Community Development

    We build real relationships and serve tangible needs, seeking the good of our city in both word and deed.

    Local & Global Missions

    We support church plants and missionaries—both nearby and around the world—so the Gospel continues to advance beyond us.

From the beginning, our church has been shaped by a simple conviction: one generation has a responsibility to reach the next. That conviction shapes how we preach, how we disciple, how we serve our city, and how we partner in missions locally and globally.

This isn’t about building a name for ourselves. It’s about being faithful with what God has entrusted to us.
