In light of President Trump’s statement deeming all churches and houses of worship as essential, many churches are opening their doors to resume Sunday services in their buildings. Since this statement has been released from the Whitehouse, city and state officials have released their guidelines for how churches are to function if they choose to open their doors. The Fresno County Department of Public Health has released a 14 page list of guidelines that we are expected to follow.

After reviewing the restrictions and limitations of these guidelines, the elders of The Word Community Church (including Bishop Coleman) agree that it would be unwise to open the church for Sunday Services. Our plan is to:

  • Continue with creating content and sharing through our online channels
  • Streaming Sunday services online
  • Opening the church for smaller bible studies throughout the week

We are still working out the details and logistics for the mid-week bible studies (who will be leading, what days and times, how we will maintain social distancing and sanitation protocols that are expected, etc.). We plan to announce these updates this week.

We ask for your prayers:

  • That our city, state, and federal leaders would have guidance and wisdom as they make decisions that affect us all
  • For grace and favor that restrictions would be loosened and lifted
  • For the safety of our pastors, staff, volunteers, and congregation – especially as we open and meet in person
  • For wisdom for the elders of The Word Community Church

As always, for any questions, prayer requests, needs requests, or information, contact our church office or email info@thewordfresno.org.

Thank you, and God Bless

Elder Sean Tambagahan
